Some of the original letters written by me during the Sepoy Indian Mutiny from Bustee, Dinapoor, and Goruckpoor : letterbook, 1857 May 20-1858 Sept. 17.

Day to day account of his experiences during the Mutiny (over 200 autograph letters). He writes every day to Mr. Hamilton (government agent at Ghazeepoor) and tells of events in the Mutiny, the dispositions of rebel forces and other information brought to him by natives in his employ; complains of the lack of military protection, of being ordered to abandon his post, the difficulties of travel, etc.

Scholar of mortgage and property law. Osborne received his LLB and JD degrees from Harvard in 1919 and 1920; before joining the faculty at the Stanford Law School in 1923, he taught at the Universities of West Virginia and Minnesota.
